About David
David E. Morrow is the Executive Vice President at The Walnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Morrow has an extensive leadership background in the fields of hospitality and education. He earned his undergraduate degrees as well as his Master of Science degree in Managerial Technology at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI. Most recently earned is Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration with a concentration in Higher Education graduating from Drexel University School of Education in May of 2018.
His career began in hospitality operations where he developed operational and managerial skills while successfully overseeing multiple restaurants in several western states as an Area Director. His time spent leading teams in the hospitality industry allowed him to develop the ability to quickly analyze situations, identify multiple solutions, and determine the best course of action while engaged in this fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Recognizing the importance of successful people management, Dr. Morrow earned his Senior Professional of Human Resources certification to support his success in the industry.
Although passionate about the hospitality industry, Dr. Morrow recognized his desire to support the development of people and began his transition into higher education. His transition began when he took a position as the Executive Director of Training and Development for a small publishing and training company in Fishers, IN. During this time Dr. Morrow refined his understanding of training and development practices through co-authoring books on career development, leading state and private organizations in strategic planning initiatives and professional development sessions, and presenting at major conferences nationwide.
Dr. Morrow’s transition to higher education was complete in 2005 when he accepted a position at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College as an instructor. In less than one year, Dr. Morrow earned a Deanship with the college. As a part of the executive team, Dr. Morrow supported the development of the institution in updating and revising the curriculum, retaining national accreditation, and transitioning to Walnut Hill College. Shortly thereafter Dr. Morrow accepted the role of Chief Academic Officer where he has employed his abilities in and philosophies related to change leadership employing his change management theories to support the growth and development of the college.
David’s passion for hospitality and education along with his leadership philosophy centered on collaboration and creative problem solving has supported his success as a leader in both industries. His belief that, “Above anything else, people are an operations most important asset,” has been instrumental to his leadership success.
